Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3
The force of this promise is in the fact of our incredible ignorance. How can it be that there are “great and mighty things” of which we are completely unaware? Mankind lived for centuries in total ignorance of electricity or nuclear power. We did not invent them – we discovered them. In the same way, Christians are on the verge of great discoveries about God and His kingdom – they are within reach. God has promised to make “great and mighty things” known to us. What, then, is the missing ingredient? Quite simply, it is hunger for God. A person who is hungry for God calls out, reaches out, stirs themselves to respond to the promise of God. Our ignorance cannot condemn us, but our indifference can only be described as criminal in the light of promises such as these. Stir yourself, call on the Lord, and let the adventure of discovery begin.
