I am the God of your father – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Exodus 3:6

God is the God of Creation, and by His omnipotent power He created the beauty of the universe. But here He declares Himself to be the God of three ordinary individuals who responded in human weakness and frailty to His word. God is the God of individual human beings, and the Bible declares that the most powerful thing in history will be the individual response of ordinary people. Kings and Pharaohs of the ancient world have come and gone and are forgotten, but Abraham, Isaac and Jacob have affected all the families of the earth. The challenge is simple: live out your life within the confines of ordinary circumstances, and God will pick up these very elements and build an eternal kingdom that shall never perish, but shall outlast all the greatness and glories of human kingdoms. The political decisions of earthly rulers shake this world, but the ordinary issues of conscience and personal obedience shake the kingdom of darkness and glorify God. Mortal rulers parade their greatness in front of mortal observers. Christians live out their lives knowing that they are under the watchful eye of the everlasting God. When God observes the little acts of loving devotion in our daily walk, He gathers these things up and shapes the course of nations and of history to declare that He is our God. Walk before Him, and discover the power of walking humbly with God.
