Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours? 2 Chronicles 1:10
This is the great prayer that began the golden age of Israel’s history. Under Solomon there was unity, peace, prosperity and, at the beginning of his reign, there was spiritual power and the wonderful Presence of God sanctifying the Temple and the nation. It was the counterpart of the book of Acts. So we, too, can pray for wisdom – not just that we might do well, but that God’s people may prosper and that God’s name may be glorified. How we need wisdom. We need to know how to live each day aright, we need to know how to use our time and our resources. We don’t need more things, we need to know how to use what we have. Be definite, see the need of your heart and your life, and pray, ask for wisdom. God has promised to answer this prayer. He will touch our hearts and open our ears to perceive His way and His voice. So pray and God will surely answer, for this is prayer that pleases Him.
