O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. Song of Solomon 2:14

Low self-esteem is a common affliction.  Most of us are secretly afraid that we will be rejected or laughed at.  It is for this reason that many people are afraid to speak or be seen in any public context.  But Jesus thinks we are wonderful.  He is like a gardener looking at a flower in full bloom, with joy and wonder filling Him.  Sometimes we are far from in full bloom!  We might be more like a rough and wrinkled tuber in His hands, that would be unnoticed on a rubbish heap.  But He doesn’t see the external scars and blemishes.  He looks deep into the tuber and knows that it holds a secret treasure, if only He can coax it out.  The tuber only needs water, and it will produce breathtaking beauty.  We need the reassurance of His love.  He longs for us to lift our faces to Him in faith.  He longs for us to lift our voices in praise and worship.  For Him there is no more beautiful sight than you.  You are wonderful and beautiful beyond compare.  You are His priceless treasure.  One look or word from you, and His heart dances for joy.  There is within you a beauty that is breathtaking, and a seed of life that has the power to make multitudes of angels worship God.  God looks at us and is delighted at the wonder of what He has made.  A look of love, a song of worship – these are the shimmering glories that God has made, and they are in you.  They are you.  You are wonderful, and He loves you.
