March 31

Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage… Exodus 13:3

Do we remember? Yes, there are many things that we would like to change in our lives, but the fact of our deliverance from the power of sin and the condemnation of hell should change our whole approach to life. The person who continually remembers that they are set free from the power of evil feels relief, joy and wonder. The person who forgets may feel all the same small-minded frustrations that characterised their life in bondage. Don’t forget; remember the darkness, the loneliness, the heaviness, the despair and lack of hope. Remember the power of sins forgiven and the fresh discovery of the Presence of Christ. God has not changed, but we drift. The devil knows he cannot sink our ship, so he destroys the compass. The compass is the assurance and wonder of our salvation. Pick it up and repair it. Clean the glass, oil the mechanism. Remember, and keep remembering.
