The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14

The “communion of the Holy Spirit” is a phrase that goes to the heart of our relationship with God.  Governments operate by communicating information to allow smooth administration of human society.  But God does not seek that level of contact – He seeks communion with His people.  Communion implies the mixing of our personality with God’s personality.  It is the deepest level of friendship.  It takes place when we come to rest in our hearts and allow the cloud of His Presence to settle on us and fill our conscious and sub-conscious being.  In this process, God imparts Himself, and achieves His primary goal, which is to enjoy our loving friendship.  God does not love us only enough to rescue us; He wants to be with us and enjoy our worship and our friendship.  We so easily seek places and things, but God seeks us.  This communion is a greater thing than paradise itself.  It can be enjoyed in a prison cell or in the slums and shanty towns of earth’s poorest parts.  It cannot be purchased with money or attained by human striving.  It settles on the heart that thirsts for the living God Himself with no ulterior motives.  God draws near to those whose hearts are stirred to love Him and find the fulfilment of their deepest longings in sitting with Him and sharing His life.  Let the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you evermore.
