…the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17

The Kingdom of God is not run on similar lines to other governments. It is a kingdom of love, and its citizens are righteous through faith. Righteousness is the first great mark of this kingdom, and the foundation of all the other marks of the kingdom. Once righteousness is established in our hearts by repentance and faith, the evidence is peace – peace with God and with mankind. Our sins are forgiven, and we have forgiven all those who have wronged us. Peace is the atmosphere of the kingdom. It is the air in which prayer, worship and faith flourish. The heart that prays without peace is running round and round in circles, and achieves nothing. Peace is the central focus of the heart that would walk with God and believe Him for great things. Once we come to peace through faith, we are sure that God is over all and will answer our heart’s cry. The mark of a man or woman of prayer is peace. They live in the assurance that they are watched over and protected from all harm. Some see prayer as the great battle to seize control of a world spinning into chaos. But when we approach the throne of God, we are settled and assured that our Father is in control, and in the midst of chaos we are utterly secure and safe.
