No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. John 1:18

Jesus was settled in the call of Sonship, which meant that He knew He was loved and eternally held in the Father’s heart.  This is our call also, and as we follow the witness of the Spirit we will find that it leads us always to the Father’s heart.  It is in the security of His love that God uses us and spends us for the fulfilment of His will.  To be the son of a king means that we partake of His wealth, but in the Kingdom of God it also means that we partake of the Father’s sacrificial love.  It says in Romans 8:32 that God did not spare His own Son, and this is the realm of the service of sons – to spend and to be spent, to be so sure of Father’s love and care that we are willing to be used and even (to our eyes) wasted as He pleases.  It is in this offering up of our lives that true sonship is revealed.  Service and zeal for Father’s house spring from a heart that has followed the call to Father’s heart.  We must learn and become familiar with our heart’s cry to “Father” and the warm response, “You are my beloved son”.  The greatest mysteries are the simplest, and the most blessed states are uncomplicated and pure.  As we discover the life of a son of God, we are equipped with the wisdom and power to reveal Him to the world.
