…when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. Exodus 12:23
This is one of the magnificent facts of God’s salvation of Israel. He stood in the door, and it was His Presence that kept the destroyer out. When we think of the blood of Christ, we must not think of some superstitious power that keeps us. No, the power is the Person and Presence of God. Satan is terrified of God, and flees His Presence. God sees the blood of Jesus that has washed our hearts, and He comes to us. And there is no power in heaven or hell that can raise its voice against the living God beholding the sacrifice of His Son. If we think superstitiously about the things of God we grow weak, but if we think rightly of His glory and majesty, and of His total identification with us because of Jesus, then we sense the burning fury of God against our enemies. The devil trembles at the mention of the blood, because he knows that God the Father will never forget it, but that He continually looks upon it, and stands over His people defying any power to contradict what Jesus has done.
